Dear Friend of the City,

We formally invite you to participate in Ventura’s 4th Annual One City|One Meal Thanksgiving Day Celebration. This year’s event will be held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds and promises to be the most successful gathering to date! Our new space afford us the opportunity to introduce more fully the vision of this gathering:

One seating, One moment, One city, One meal.

We have designed the event around the concept of hosting tables, which is far more than serving food…it’s sharing life. And it’s this idea of sharing life for which this meal was designed. Creating an opportunity to build unity in our diversity, sharing honestly in our humanity and hopefully seeing our neighbors in a new way. And so we celebrate Thanksgiving in a way that honors its legacy while paving the way for a greater tomorrow today.

Areas of participation are vast so please let us know you’re interested and allow us to guide you in. Monetary donations are welcome and sponsorship opportunities remain available but the most valuable contribution you can make is your presence.

How YOU can help:

Create a team to host a table (Hosts will provide all the decorations, provide servers, and table hosts who will lead and engage in conversation between diverse backgrounds).

Create a team to provide part of the meal (these teams will provide the turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and stuffing for 20 people. Pans will be provided.)

Camarillo Marathon, Rescheduled to January 8, 2012

***THE MARATHON HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED TO JANUARY 8, 2012**

Come serve your community and support ACTION at the Camarillo Marathon. We will receive a substantial donation for our Christmas Shoppes if we can provide (100) volunteers for this race!!!

This is a wonderful opportunity for small groups, church staffs and families to have fun as they serve together. Your team is encouraged to represent your church at an Aid Station by wearing your church’s logo tee shirt and/or hang a church banner at your station.

(6) volunteers are needed at one of (16) aid stations throughout the marathon route. One volunteer needs to act as a “Captain” to coordinate t-shirts, check-in, refreshments, etc. with the Marathon Volunteer Coordinator. To view the Aid Station Locations, please use the link below:

Rock Out For Kids, September 10

There are more than 1,000 kids in Ventura and Santa Barbara in foster care, of that close to 200 kids are available for adoption, and close to 50% are in need of foster homes! Rock out for Kids is a free benefit concert to raise awareness and a few dollars to support foster kids and their families! Enjoy sweet music by Dominic Ballli, yummy goodies and raffle prizes! Perfect for adults who want to rock out, and families that want to have a good time together! We would love to have you there! Plan to begin Serve Day 2011 at one of the Kickoff Events on June 4. We are planning these events in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, and the Conejo Valley. At these events, you will experience community between churches, pray for your service for the day, and experience unity in the Body of Christ.

We encourage all servant-volunteers to attend the kickoff in the city where you will serve. This gives you two opportunities to connect with the local community where you will be serving. Here are the locations:

Ramp Up Ministry Strikes Again!

This past weekend, Dave Crown and the Ramp Up Ministry struck again in Ventura, blessing a wheelchair bound, disabled senior gentleman and his wife.

Special thanks to ~

Joe Oberg – Who shows up and makes these things happen with his skill as a contractor, and direction to the team from start to finish. Joe’s been leading the charge on these builds now for at least 3 years, and watching him take the time to connect and bless the recipient is just about the greatest example of God’s love that I could hope to see.

Clark Molster – Too bad this guy has to work for a living. His attitude and work ethic are what you’d special order into every volunteer if you could. Makes me happy to work beside him.

Bambi Corso – Great to have a newcomer on a build. I think Bambi had fun. And she was a blessing to have on site. When a couple people couldn’t make it, Bambi picked up the slack.

Stefan Denser – When he got the call – less than 24 hours in advance – he didn’t hesitate. Having a 2^nd skilled contractor on a large ramp took a 10-hour build down to 6. Simply put, he cranks. And does it with a wonderful servant’s heart.

And special thanks go to Corwin Logsdon for organizing the ‘Green Up’ on Sunday, organizing 5 different families, getting 20 people to the site, and donating their own funds for all supplies. Just GREAT!!!
